Another tiny post about Zet project. As usual I’m getting problems, but all is ok now. I recently started to use Mudbox and I’m really impressed with some functions you can find in that software. My last attempt on fixing map seams was to work with Ptex files, unfortunately it’s not usable yet even 3ds Max 2013 for Mental ray users like me (save us Zap! ^^ ) so for now and until this black sorcery become available I’ll hide my UV seams in a smart way, old workflow.

Here is Koga’s hand, base mesh from a low poly hand model made for a recent 3D project (more informations in a few month), details, normal and displacement maps sculpted in Mudbox.

Un autre petit post pour le projet Zet. comme d’habitude j’ai rencontré quelques problèmes mais tout est réglé maintenant, un “nouvel ancien” workflow pointe le bout de son nez.
Je me suis mis à Mudbox et j’ai été très impressionné par certaines fonctions très pratiques et qui marchent du 1er coup. Etant un habitué des seams dans certaines de mes textures j’ai testé le Ptex mais malheureusement son utilisation dans Max (pour les Mental Ray addicts) n’est… Pas là, bien dommage! En attendant on va cacher les seams de manière intelligente, ce qu’on fait depuis 1996.

Voici la main de Koga modélisée à partir d’un mesh créé pour un autre projet 3D (plus d’infos dans quelques mois), les normal et displacement maps viennent des détails sculptés dans Mudbox.
