Here is a little project I’m working on for a few days now. It started from a “daily sculpt” idea and, as usual, it grew bigger.
This weekend I worked on the texturing process, using Substance Painter for the first time! It was a real pleasure to edit colours, roughness and bump in live (As live as you can go with a GTX 570 on a 4K template).
The kimono details have been mostly achieved in Substance Designer, embroidery comes from hand painting process.

I’m currently preparing the hair creation process by editing and adjusting guides.

A good summary of 8 hours of sculpt
This project was also a retopology exercice
Applying colours to edge loops helps a lot during the process
Models are smoothed using OpenSubdiv
Kimono was first created as an editable poly in Max
